The amazing city in the north of Portugal is known for its riverside charm and rich history. After checking into your hotel, meet your guide and the rest of the group for a welcome briefing. Enjoy the evening exploring the lively streets of Porto and sampling the city’s famous cuisine.

We will meet in the morning in Sao Bento, Porto´s main train station, where we will take the “Linha Do Douro” train, a scenic train that will take us slow & steady, following the Douro upstream, all the way to Pocinho just on time for a nice local lunch. After a 1h transfer by van we will arrive in Barca d’Alva, on the Spanish border, where we will do our kayak fitting and have our first plunge on the Douro River before heading for dinner at a local restaurant.

After a nice breakfast by the river, this is where our adventure begins. For 6 days we will paddle through the Douro River’s calm waters, surrounded by stunning terraced vineyards and dramatic landscapes. On our first day we will paddle all the way to Pocinho (16 miles), where we will end our day with a hearty dinner and an overnight stay in a cosy Pousada.

Today we will paddle through Douro’s Heart, discovering its hidden valleys and tranquil waters. We will stop for lunch in a riverside village and soak in the serene atmosphere. In the evening, we reach Pinhao where we settle into a cozy hotel and enjoy a meal featuring local flavors.

Today is a day you will not forget. we will cross our fist lock, the Valeira Lock , which will take us down 108 ft allowing us to continue our tour. We will take the opportunity to explore lesser-known stretches of the Douro, where wildlife and natural beauty abound. We will take time to visit a charming village of Portinhao in the evening along the way and experience its authentic culture. After a rewarding day on the water, unwind in a boutique hotel and enjoy a relaxing dinner in Peso da Regua.

Today, we will start our journey in Peso da Regua. After lunch on a river beach, we will also stop at Porto Rei beach for a break. We will take the opportunity to swim in the river and soak up the atmosphere. After our break, we’ll paddle under the Roman Bridge. From there we will paddle to Ribadouro where we will have dinner and spend the night.

Today is a long day. We will paddle down a long, wide section of the river until we reach our second lock and the highest of the Douro, the Carrapatelo Lock, which lowers us 115 ft. We are now moving from the port area to the white wine area. After a little lunch break in Entre os Rios in a riverside bistro we will be arriving in Melres where we will stay in a traditional Pousada.

On your last day, savor the tranquility of a final paddle along the river. Afterward, transfer back to Porto, where you’ll have the evening free to explore or continue your travel. After that we will have dinner and maybe share a glass of port wine in celebration of having paddled together across Portugal.
